The asteroid Eros is traditionally associated with cupid, and it's all about attraction, desire, and creative energy. The asteroid Chiron carries a very different energy; it is depicted as a centaur, and known as the “wounded healer.” If you have the asteroid Eros sitting right next to Chiron in your birth chart, which astrologers call a 'conjunction,' then it means that your wounding, pain, and opportunities for healing are inherently tied to your desires, erotic nature and sense of creativity. These two sides of yourself are connected and fused. Read ahead for an interpretation on what having this aspect means for you.
With Chiron conjunct Eros in the natal chart, you may only be attracted and desiring of your partners if they have a certain amount of depth that often comes from painful experiences. You may not be satisfied with romantic partners who haven't been through much in their lives, or who prefer to remain surface level. People who have been on, or are currently be going through, some sort of healing journey, are very attractive to you. You may strongly desire partners who carry some type of wounding - this can be physical or emotional. You may find yourself drawn to people who wear their “trauma on their sleeve” but especially ones who’ve processed their pain and integrated the wounds into their identity.
You may express yourself creatively in ways that honors your past pain and the things you've been through. If you create art, it may carry a healing vibe to it or healing messages for others. You may be especially drawn to creative work (movies, music, visuals) that carry a certain depth of feeling and vulnerability to them. Others can sense this about you as well. Your self expression may naturally invite others to be vulnerable with you and share their deepest fears, insecurities and past experiences easily.
Some of your deepest wounds might be connected to your erotic desires, the objects of your affection and your creativity. On the flip side, these things can also be central to your healing. You may feel that you can only fully address your wounds and transform the pain into wisdom and purpose through erotic or creative avenues. You may feel the best healing for you happens when you can express your erotic nature in some way.
Eros is an asteroid that focuses outward. It yearns, and can become fixated on others through desire. Our Eros placement tends to involve others in some way. Through this aspect you may influence other peoples’ healing journeys. Your art might have powerful healing capabilities for others. Your partner may feel that your erotic nature helps to heal their wounds. They may feel like they’re allowed to be vulnerable in your presence, that you help them confront their insecurities and pain in a safe way.
Chiron isn’t meant to (and often doesn’t) stand still or maintain the same form throughout life because in its highest expression, Chiron is about alchemy and transformation. Our Chiron placement might express itself differently in the middle of a painful period versus after the healing has happened and you’ve started helping others. Chiron is called the “wounded healer.” With this conjunction, you may find that your desires, passions and creative tastes change shape or evolve through different phases of life. You may notice a change in your erotic and creative tastes between the time before your healing and the time after.
If you have this placement, your sense of wounding and your erotic nature are amplified themes in your life. You will want to look at the zodiac sign and house where this is happening to better understand your particular placement!
